Ellis Angel’s banned book weavings—created from This Book Is Gay, In the Night Kitchen, and Draw Me a Star—are part of Rowan University’s Artist as Activist exhibition, running June–August 2025 in partnership with the NJ Arts Council.

Ellis Angel’s mixed media weaving, Flamer, part of The Censor’s Cut series, transforms shredded pages of the banned book into a powerful protest piece. Presented in collaboration with PEN America, this work is on display at Magic City Books for Banned Books Week 2024 through November 24, 2024
